In my Magnet school , I will have an inquiry based curriculum that emphasizes on these curricular areas:

Practical Math : Highlighting on the benefits of learning Math in a hands-on, fun approach. Strong emphasis on problem solving strategies - teaching learners how to approach challenges as they encounter them in a logical way . Important math skills include : basic operations and reasoning. The learner will understand that Math is purposeful.
Discovery Science : Through hands-on learning , the students will explore the wonders of Science and will be challenged to create responses to our changing world through inventions. The students will compare and contrast the works and theories of renowned scientists . From biology to physics, They will learn to question the world around them and find ways to make sense of it by using the scientific method.
History & Global Issues: The learner will understand how events in world history has affected our future through a widely internationalized curriculum. They will compare how history has molded different countries and understand the reasons behind different economic states. Tackling of Global issues will be an integral part of this curricular area to make learners develop different worldviews.
Technology : This area will be integrated across the curriculum. It goes beyond knowledge of the basic computer skills inside a computer room. Students will interact , engage and build ideas through the use of technology in all subject areas.
As for areas of specialization , I would offer a number of electives in my magnet school based on the needs of our country : medicine, agriculture, education, journalism, entrepreneurship, music, dance, theater, information technology and law.
In the Philippines, education draws a line between the rich and the poor. The underprivileged always miss opportunities to succeed in spite of their talents and skills. Through a solid learning curriculum offered by a magnet school , I trust that there will be hope for a university, a job and a better life for many unfortunate children in our country.
