What a beautiful thing it is to be learning a lot without any barriers on distance or time.
As this course progresses , I can clearly see the strengths of online learning. Through my experience, I can speak firsthand - as a student, about what it takes to have a good, successful online course. Of course, the attitude of the student taking the course counts a lot but the way a course is designed or setup from the interface to activities and assignments really contributes a lot to the success of the program. Here is a list of some features in this online course that have made my journey to online learning successful : 1. Well designed interface or platform with every possible information available for the student. 2. Clear due dates . 3. Weekly homework with a common format makes expectations easier to meet. 4. Skype conversation - brings the human interaction alive among members of the class. This allows for deeper connections and foundations to build on. 5.Open communication between teacher and learner 6. Great articles and resources - can be overwhelming but still a wealth of information. I think about my professor, classmates and also those who are in charge of developing online courses . I appreciate all the hard work and effort that is put into doing what you do. Being able to reach all learners effectively in just 1 click is a skill I'd like to develop more in this course. A big THANK YOU for inspiring me, John and all my classmates !

Lianne, thank you for your reflection, and breaking down the key ingredients from your own experience and perspective of the effective components of an online course. I appreciate your very positive feedback and am happy to hear that the structure and dialogue we are having is supporting your own learning. A wonderful portal and set of resources that I use a lot for my own online course is http://www.inacol.org/ they provide a wonderful series of resource, benchmarks, standards and links to help one develop and create online courses based on sound pedagogic strategies with a differentiated learner in mind.
